Part 1I am a flesh of person who value culture a lot . I believe that the charge to the peak of success is by a good education coupled with perseverance and hard work . With the experiences I had in the past , I came up with the decision to apply for a major in Asian American Study in your reputable university . My interest in this field of study demonstrable when I , an International Asian schoolchild , had the opportunity to employ of an American educationI love the culture of the clownish I came from and I as salubrious put one over learned to love the culture of the country I am in now . I bind been to both worlds so I think it will be beneficial to me to take up this major . And by doing so , I will be able to know much about Asia and America and be able to appreciate more the countries which have become significant parts of me . I have participated in several events and joined in several organizations tie in to Asian American Study . I was a provide in the 24th and 25th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival It was a great experience for me because I learned more about Asian and American cultures through the films showcased during the festival . I also became a volunteer in the Center for Asian American Media . I learned a lot from this organization because I had the opportunity to deal with dissimilar types of people and incomparable real-life situations . My experiences in this institution helped mold the kind of person I am now . I was also part of the World Music Club of City College of San Francisco which organizes and implements strain raising activities like food and garage sales . I had the chance to become a fund raising motorcoach in one of its activities and it opened my eyeball to the realities of life . I was employed in Hong Kong Book Fair 2007 , as well .

This experience provided me the opportunity to meet more Asians , specifically Chinese nationals . Dealing with these people made me understand them more than I did before . Generally , these experiences helped me learn much about American culture . Being a stranger in a strange land was never an easy task for me . I had to adjust with my new environment and with new people most me . That was why learning about American culture became so beneficial on my part , as an international student . Not only did these experiences contribute to my intellectual abilities . They also helped me empathize and become aware of the social responsibilities I have . My eyes were opened to social realities because of the activities I engaged myself in . I was able to compare how Asians and Americans live . I became aware of how most people in America live their lives comfortably and how volume of Asians struggle to support their lives everyday .
