INTRODUCTION
Afghanistan is a landlocked domain in Southwest Asia, which urban civilization can be traced hindquarters to 3,000 to 2,000 B.C., and politically can be traced back to the 18th century. This country has seen many military conquests to include Alexander the Great, Chandragupta Maurya, and Genghis Khan to more than recently Russia and the United States. Despite all of the fighting everywhere the centuries, Afghanistan still maintains its own identity and is steeped in tradition and culture. Although the legal age of the population is illiterate, many non-literates are well aware of their hereditary pattern because of vibrant oral traditions that are passed on through the generations. Family is the single most important institution in Afghanistans patriarchy society.
Individual honor, a positive pride in independence that comes from self-reliance, fulfillment of family obligations, respect for the elderly, respect for women, loyalty to colleagues and friends, allowance account for others, forthrightness, are cultural qualities most Afghans share. Afghans take these values to face and truly do live by them.
A womans blot is the central pillar to these values. Women have a unique bureau in the family depending on their location in the country. In urban areas, women have far more freedoms than their counterparts in rural areas. Women in the slight populated areas are expected to work on the land, tend to the children and maintain the house household.
