Jean Piaget (1896-1980) was born in Neuchatel Switzerland and noteworthy biologist and philosopher. He got interested in study of tyke psychological organic evolution process. This study was motivated by his archaeozoic studies. Piagets experimentations made him to observe and rede that a childs thinking takes off at certain stages being classified as taking purpose at 18 months, 7 years and 11years and curriculum programming in schools has largely borrowed from this observation. According to Donaldson (1984), Piagets cognitive structures be the patterns of action in a childs physiologic and mental state that determine intelligence and that they strivingulate the priming of stages (schemas).He developed four key stages of cognitive development.
They include centripetal stage (0-2 years), preoperational (3-7 years), concrete stage (8-11 years) and formal operations (12-15 years).
In the sensory labor stage, intelligence is in form of motor actions characterized by play such as pulling and a sense of object permanence is developed .During the preoperational stage, intelligence is intuitive. They make to develop language and represent objects by words. It takes logical form during the concrete stage where they experience minimal logic of saving of numbers. Lastly the formal operations stage, thinking takes form of abstracting and testing hypothesis they also conceptualize the future and ideological problems.
