VISUAL POEM/ mental strain PROJECT
Poets and variant writers spin magic with words. The writer goal is to spark in your imagination a multi-dimensional world of pictures and go throughry. In this assignment, you will reckon these powerful words (text of a poetry or medicament lyrics) and enhance them with pictures or images from magazine clippings, online sources, or even private artwork - to create a collage.
Your Assignment
Find one poem or song that speaks to you personally and powerfully - that gives you insight on the themes of stereotypes, racism, prejudice, intolerance. It could be a negative message or a positive message. Look for words that evoke an striking ocular image for you [could be a single word and image (e.g. mama) - or more general theme (e.g. madness - an exploding head) ]

You need to present it on a 2-sided Bristol board or computer program, like PowerPoint.
A) SIDE hotshot: Visuals
o Include the lyrics, performer, and when created. Include the poem, the author and when published.
o artistically choose images, graphics and/or create artwork that speaks for the poem you have chosen. It may be a collage of images or one significant piece of artwork that speaks for itself.
B) SIDE two: Written paragraphs of explanation (3)
Poem or song epitome: (100 to 150 words)
o Interpret the song or poem. What does it rebuke about? Who is the speaker? What themes are relevant? Explain whatever figurative language. Does the piece have any special diachronic/ contextual background?
o Explain why the song/poem effectively portrays the themes you have chosen
